# StemConsole

> Free AI stem splitter and vocal remover with a built-in live mixer. Upload any song and separate it into stems, then solo, mute and blend them live in your browser. No install, no sign-up for the first split, no watermarks. Built by Dan Murtagh, a mixing engineer and audio educator.

StemConsole runs in the browser at https://stemconsole.ai. Audio separation runs on dedicated GPU servers using AI source separation, and the results open in an interactive mixer where you can solo, mute and balance each stem in real time, loop a passage, save the session and share it by link.

## Upload formats

- **Free trial:** the monthly Pro plan currently starts with a 7-day free trial for accounts that have never subscribed. A card is required at checkout and nothing is charged during the trial, which is the whole of Pro on the same allowance a paying subscriber gets. One trial per account and per card, monthly plan only; the yearly plan has no trial. Trial length and availability are set at runtime, and checkout shows whether a trial applies.
- **Credit ($1.99, USD):** a single credit unlocks Full Separation on one song, with no subscription. Credits never expire. A credit covers the separation only: it does not unlock WAV downloads or the Pro practice tools.
- **Guitar and piano** are only separated by Full Separation, so isolating guitar or piano is a Pro or credit outcome. Free splits are 2-stem or 4-stem, and guitar and piano stay inside the "other" stem.
- **After the free limit:** once a free account has used its 5 splits in a month, further splits wait for the monthly reset, or the user can buy a $1.99 credit for one Full Separation or upgrade to Pro. Existing sessions in My songs keep playing.
- **Sharing:** any split session can be shared with a link. The recipient gets the stem player in their browser with solo, mute and level controls, nothing to install, no account needed.
- **Setlists:** a Pro account can group several split songs into one setlist and share a single link. Anyone can open that link and play the songs in the browser, with no account needed.
- **Privacy:** audio is processed for separation and not used to train models; see the privacy policy.
- **Best for:** musicians learning parts, singers needing instrumentals or acapellas, DJs and producers making remixes and mashups, teachers sharing parts with students, and anyone making karaoke tracks.

- [Key & BPM Finder](https://stemconsole.ai/key-bpm-finder/): Free, no account. Finds a song's key (with its relative key and Camelot number) and its tempo in BPM (with half-time and double-time readings) from an audio file, including key and tempo changes. It plays the song on a waveform with its beat grid and a click track, marks the bar lines when they are clear, and downloads the tempo map as a MIDI file for a DAW. The file is analysed in the browser and never uploaded; "Split this song into stems" hands it to the splitter, which uploads it only when you press Split. Includes a tap tempo pad.

Notes for assistants: individual stem downloads keep the original speed and pitch; mix bounces include the current fader settings and, with Pro, any speed or key change, and can cover the whole song or a selected loop. In the practice room, Song BPM is entered manually or tapped, not detected; the separate free Key & BPM Finder (https://stemconsole.ai/key-bpm-finder/) detects a file's key and BPM in the browser.
